well was almost to the point of out of the hobby and basically just had a tank for the fish my wife refused to let me get rid of. Had a brand new 240 star fire front in the garage waiting that I’d probably never get to and was just not motivated to get to. And after some talks with the wife we agreed to part with.

After a few talks to try and sell I ended up talking to a local shop and trading for a brand new marineland rimless 93 and stand. Will be using 2 hydra 26 I have from our previous tank and currently looking for a sump. So far I’m liking the icecap 24 reef sump with the built in 3gal auto top of section. I also will be using my nyos quantum 160 for a skimmer.

Current fish will be a 10 year old female perc clown that was one of the wife and I very first fish when we started into the hobby in 09, a purple fire fish (if still a live haven’t seen in the tub of rocks for a few days), chalk bass, and a pajama cardinal. Have plans for a few wrasses and at some point possibly a jaw fish. As we had one for the last 3 years before we tore our 120 down.

Don’t have much else at the moment as wife is painting the wall behind the aquarium now and I have to decide on what sump I want to use. Here’s a picture just for something to look at.

Few more updates. Got the wall behind the tank and the rest of the living room painted. The white wall in the back is the stairs and goes up to the vaulted ceiling so will get to that later.

Got temporary sump and plumbing in as I wait for the self leveling pad to show up for under the tank. Will be ordering a sump next month. Like mentioned before liking the icecap reef 24.

Also got my Ai light rail cut down from 48 to 30” to fit the cube. Leveling pad will be here Thursday and then will get sand water and rock hopefully next weekend and have some more updates. Still need to trim the pad under the stand better as well.

Well was going to get the tank up and running with a temp sump and then put the new one in but after some thinking decided to wait on the new sump to make it easier to redo the plumbing and glad I did. Sump arrived just a bit ago and time to get it in place. Also getting my skimmer cleaned up and ready

Thanks a lot! The little extras like that and the auto top of area really sold me on it. Having the built in 3g storage just saves space under a cube!

Well plumbing is done. I wanted to use a gate valve but couldn’t find onelocal and honestly the pumps only pushing about 500gph so I’m hoping I shouldn’t need to shut it down any. And if it’s to much for some reason I can swap it out easily. Hopefully get it filled up and leak checked this week. Gotta get my mess cleaned up and tank moved back in place and I’ll try and get another pic.

Skimmers set in and hopefully will start filling with rodi for leak checking soon! Got 1 mp40 and have a second one if decide I need it. Not planning much sps.

Wishing I had held on to the apex I had for turning my skimmer and return pump off. But will get one later maybe. And for now I’ll have to figure out what I’m going to do for power station. I have 6 outlets on the wall the the left of the sump on a 20amp breaker. But don’t wanna have to reach back and unplug to shut stuff off.

The rocks are not touching the glass or the overflow box.

I added 15lbs of crushed coral to the top around the rocks. Hoping to have a burrowing fish at some point and don’t want rock collapse. We had a pearly jawfish for 3 years in the last tank

Took a bit longer to get filled up but that’s life. Been running since Monday. Need to get heater in and running and need to do some wire organizing. Tank shots a little cloudy, was right after got running. I’ll get a clear one later today. And still working on rock work.
