Tank is looking great :) I actually like the tang in there depite all the crazy tang police. All fish are cramped in any tank compared to thier native habitat. I've had wrasses 10x more active then tangs and yet their requirements were less than half. A tomini is the most appropriate tang for a tank that size. I have a yellow tang in my 40 gallon breeder only temporarily but he isn't nearly as active as the leopard wrasse I used to have and the wrasse's requirements were 50 gallon and the tang is 100 gallon. I understand Tangs get larger but their activity is a bit over rated and I think if people are going to put such high tank ratings for them they should include other highly active fish such as wrasses and pygmy angels. I'll get crucified for most of these statements but the hobby in general inhibits all animals but if you feed them well and care for them that should be all that matters, but that is all within reason of course. There are many who would put a hippo tang in a 10 gallon and that is just plain ridiculous.

....yeah..

I would rehome the Tomini and opt for smaller fish... It's ridiculous to say "our tanks aren't as big as ocean anyway so whatever" so that makes it right to not care much about what the creature actually would need?

A lion would normally have the African fields to roam, so any cage won't replicate that so it's fine that we keep him in a dog cage.. no it should have a certain amount of acreage to run and have its own territory away from others.

mgdmirage- Thank you for your kind response. I like the tang in the tank as well, he is very healthy and his colors are starting to come out more and more. I know the tank is not nearly the recommended size for one of these but he is a juvenile so I have some time before I need to move him to a larger tank or sell/trade him. Thanks again, much appreciated!<br>

KCbutnotsosunshine- The tang is obviously healthy or I would not subject him or any other fish to a unhealthy environment. Plus the fish is a JUVENILE in case you and all the other fish police haven't noticed yet. The tank he was in at the LFS was much smaller then mine and who knows how long the fish would of stayed there. The bottom line is the fish is healthy, well taken care of and will be transported to a larger tank when the time comes. Go fish police someone who really needs it if that's what you enjoy doing here on the forums.

Lol whatever you say, I'm not trying to making you do anything. If you can't take some criticism you should think twice about posting. I never directly bashed you, only told you my opinion. If you are posting on forums you should get used to hearing other people's opinions on things.

If you can live with it go right ahead. People like the old hag that was working at a lfs by me telling a guy he can put 8 fish and and anemone in a one day old 10 gallon tank are the ones ruining the hobby and giving it a bad rep.

If your experienced and feel its fine to put a juvi in there, all power to you. But you can't expect people not to say anything than get all defensive when they do.

Anyways, good luck. Happy reefing.

Nice tank!! Love the coral! Hey I had some questions. I have a biocube 14 and I'm getting some green hair algae any ideas on how to control? Also your sand is amazingly clean! How do you keep it that way? Thanks!

Thanks! About the algae, maybe you are running your white lights to long or your temps may be on the higher end so that could feed the algae growth as well. I would stock up on some turbo snails and some other clean up crew type critters as they should help control the algae growth. Thanks on the sand, to be honest I let my crabs do the work as I never touch the sand while I do water changes so I dont mix up all the debris that settles in sand. The sand I have in the tank is Fiji Pink and the sand I put in my shallow reef tank is bahama oolite and that is some fine sand, finer then what you see in this tank. Anyways thanks for the compliments!

Looking awesome! I really like the rockwork in there and the open sand bed.

I don't know if you still have the Acans on the sand, but you have an Acan Echinata like an inch away from an Acan Lord and that Echinata will eat that Lord for breakfast if it stays there too long. If it is still there, stay up at night with a flashlight one night and you will see a big yellowish-white tentacly mess coming out of the echinata trying to find the lord. When it finds its mark, that lord is done for.

Try and group any acan lords together and keep them away from basically...everything. They are some of the nastiest, most aggressive corals.
