Just wanted to post this for those who may be looking to do a similar thing , I am currently starting a nuvo 10 frag tank which will be able to hold about 140-160 frags and going to tie into main apex / trident from im nuvo 40 across the room for monitoring

Just wanted to stress this IKEA cabinet is reinforced (see last photos) the screws were first pilot drilled and then hand driven without over tightening - the key to this system is making sure the laminate does not start failing and water getting into the particle board if that happens the stand won’t last long after esp if it gets a good soak

Much better to have a metal frame inside the stand or wooden frame but since only a 10 gallon and I leveled it , it’s very sturdy now with this bracing but wouldn’t do more than a 10 gallon

Will update this thread as more of the build comes along , this system will have a skimmer , Uv, ato and will be tied into the main apex / trident

Love the stand for your tank!
Appreciate it just so happens that IKEA makes kitchen cabinets with a near identical foot print to the nuvo 10 and some other nano tanks - so it works well as a cabinet but only if reinforced with brackets or a separately built frame of sorts

They have many models the cheapest usually ring around $40-$50 throw in another $10 of brackets or $20 of wood for Frame & you have a nice stand for a nano

Some of the more expensive finishes they offer apparently have better water repellent than the cheaper ones

Update below

Got the ato set up (smart auto aqua) it’s one of the best ato for small tanks in my opinion as it is a diaphragm pump which is mounted onto the tank and pulls water from the resovoir as opposed to needing to push the water up / head pressure

They are also less likely to back siphon although you still definitely should have your siphon loops / siphon valves etc for redundancy

Got first Zoa in tank - aio compartment has pre seeded bio media from established tank

Next step is going to be adding the skimmer / c02 scrubber then connecting for monitoring to trident - then will be hiding all the wires and mounting controllers (I gave the hygger little tiny titanium heater a try with this tank but not happy with it ) going to buy a true titanium with controller soon

The hygger had super short cable length and none of the cables that go into the heating element or “controller” temp probe , etc can be dis connected everything is wired in so if any component fails pretty much toss the unit

The lack of cable length is the main issue heating element also large for its wattage

Will update as the build gets further along frag racks coming in few days

Set them up like this but the tank can still fit a few more of these racks in various configurations …. GTA Figure out best placement / flow with Par meter then decide if I should order a few more racks to fill up all the space or maybe a mushroom box in a corner with some substrate or tiles on the floor etc

Feel free to post your guys frag set ups

just wanted to include a good photo of the racks - this is with an orange filter - this company prints some cool racks and has tons of color combo options (I’m gna add a few more racks around the perimeter of these some higher in the back and all bottom tiered around rest of peninsula) with a small space in the front to put tiles

This thread is dead in the water as of now but still gna post in case anyone in the future wants to set up this frag tank they will see all the gear going to tie this mini energy bar into the main apex and add a PH probe & temp probe to this mini frag tank using a module - this way I can monitor on the main apex - may need to use extenders for the probes not sure yet - also these helio heaters have been rock solid in my experience knock on wood - they had an issue with the old mini 30 watt not being enough to heat a tank larger than 5 gallon - so they increased the size / wattage & this is the new mini

New clown (so this tank has 2 fish now the pink wrasse and this clown) these will be the only two fish due to size of tank

Did a freshwater dip of this aquacultured clown just to be sure has he has what possibly looked like a fluke however since it did not fall off in the freshwater dip it is most likely that viral disease that is spelled like lymphoma but can’t remember exact name to which there is no cure and the recommended treatment method is good and vitamins - hopefully he will recover so far not showing any distress

Question about the skimmer is the intake tube repositionable?
It is a standard U shape so it will be slightly adjustable swinging left to right (there is no piece holding it steady) but after about 120-140 degree you will hit the skimmer body and won’t be able to move it more) you an custom plumb it if necessary but the pump doesn’t have a whole lot of power so you would need to use smaller diameter most likely throwing off the balance , if you have room for the slightly larger bullet hob 2 it’s a much better skimmer and the 3 is a great skimmer all around for a hob the smallest one is lacking in power a bit in regards to the pumps air draw

I have another skimmer I’m going to drop in one of the rear chambers of this nuvo 10 & hang the light so I can use a stronger pump with more air draw for better skimmin and better ph gain thru Co2 scrubber - check the new updates on this nano frag

New update - frag mini is movin along , some notes (no so happy with the bullet 1 hob , the bullet 2 and bullet 3 are awesome) but the 1 doesn’t have quite the air draw to effectively run a scrubber

Got some live rock added under rack and the apex hooked up via small energy bar and pm1 module to have some control/monitoring

Planning on hanging the prime and then adding a skimmer into the back panel to get better air draw for the skimmer to reach 8.3 ph (I have 2 that will fit this tanks rear chambers.) but don’t want to give up Sock/filter loss so will need to hang the ai prime and put the skimmer in middle chamber
