The first unit sent out had a bad pinch valve that was corroded and fell apart, so Neptune sent out a refurbished replacement unit. The new one tested correctly for one test, then the phosphates declined rapidly and after only 3 tests reads zero 100% of the time despite the Hanna results showing a consistent range of .05-.10. The support experience was disappointing and slow with no resolution so I have requested an RMA and will not be using this product until it is has been shown to work correctly. I hope many of you are having better experiences, and hope this can get resolved and work as effectively as the original Trident does. Please forego the complaints about Neptune and Aperture if you would be so kind in your comments, as the purpose of this post is to see if anyone out there is getting a better result than I have so far.

How could a pinch valve have already corroded and failed?? Are they using refurbished parts from other Tridents that come in for service?? Wow

They test them. But the design is identical to the Trident so I have a feeling they are using converted Tridents. Some are likely refurbs.

Well my Trident NP is no longer testing phosphate accurately. It is off .05. Consistently. Which is very annoying. It’s now showing 0 and my Hanna’s are showing .056 and .06 respectively.

No it was a brand new pinch valve, it had the mfg date on it of 1/206/02, it had some blue fluid on it that may have been reagent that got spilled during the factory calibration that corroded the plastic on the valve.

dang that’s what $680 gets you according to Neptune. This just made me text my guy that I’m skipping on both the regular trident and np.

I love my regular Trident. It's accurate and I use it to control my 2 part dosing. The NP is just not ready for market IMO, but that's how Neptune rolls with all their new products, and they'll deny it has any problems while they work on a secret fix behind the scenes.

The regular Trident is beyond trustworthy at this point. The amount of those having issues is very low.

The NP is a different beast and of course problems were to be expected. Every tester on the market has failed early on. Alkatronic, Mastertronic, iV, GHL’s giant mess of a tester. The list goes on.

Eventually people learn for themselves to stop being the beta testers for these companies.

Being honest we, hobbyist, do not know how many NP's are out there vs the people posting with concerns and/or issues. Could be many to a handful. Could be many to many. Who knows.

As we see with the Hanna gold standard thread hobbyist can use the same product and have different experiences. I believe your point about the regular Trident is spot on due to the time in market.

There are not a lot of NP units out there and I have that from a pretty reliable source

Wonder if they will send it with my RMA label? Because I'm not keeping this for $709 if it is that far off.
Probably not, you'll likely have to sell it online and let another reefer work through the 6-8 week support process. That's the part that is so disappointing, they are apparently under staffed and very very slow to resolve issues.

Unless that is someone who works for them I'd say that is speculation. Feel free to provide the data though as it would be interesting.

That is fine. I can't share my sources. If you know who I am, it isn't hard to figure out where I get a lot of my info.

I don't nor did I imply.

Even the Neptune group on Facebook has loads of information from wholesalers, store owners, other vendors....all talking about how few units are out there. Many having their orders cancelled. Some only getting 10 of the 100 they ordered and the last 90 cancelled. Neptune didn't have thousands of these ready. They had a few hundred at best.
