Feeding question: I added a tricolor fairy wrasse to the tank about 10 days ago - s/he is very shy and color is good, when we can see her - she's mostly hiding under a rock and does not come out at feeding time. Feeding frozen food (Marine Cuisine), but have no idea if she is eating. Moved the rock yesterday and saw her color is still very good.

Any suggestions for ensuring that she is eating?

Give it time, she will come out. About the 6-line. That’s a pretty aggressive species you might be able to get him with a micro fishing rod and non barbed hook pretty easily.

Not that is truly an intriguing idea - fishing in my Nano Cube! Before becoming a hobbyist, I used to love to fish (with barbed hooks); now I can't stomach the idea ;) A micro line with a non barbed hook for this practical solution is making me smile :D

Is the Possum Wrasse active? My Pink Streaked got comfortable fairly quickly (RIP). With fewer total fish though.

@NY_Caveman I learned about the Possum Wrasse from @Lasse 's Dream Tank thread - if memory serves, they have an interesting helicopter type swimming behavior. Found the pictured specimen on LiveAquaria Diver's Den and thought it would be an interesting addition. Tank mates would include the Midas Blenny, Tricolor Fairy Wrasse, Mated pair clown fish (non-aggressive) and a yellow assessor.

We loved out Pink Streaked Wrasse which I have read is very similar in behavior. I have considered a Possum Wrasse since I do not want to “replace” Ruby.

Both the yellow banded possum and Pygmy geometric perchlet are awesome fish, very lovable. The possum isn’t active like a leopard or even pink streaked but it is an active swimmer and wonderfully inquisitive.

It's looking very good!

Thank you! For now I'm relying on these photo updates from hubby to experience how the plants are developing. I purchased some liquid ADA fertilizer to make daily dosing easy (one pump per day) - this dose is intensionally very low - I don't want to promote algae growth since I'm not around to manage the tank. I like the growth rate of the plants, although they appear to be a bit spindly; may appear different in person, but I know the fert dose is low. At this rate the plants will need to be trimmed in a couple weeks, and that may cause them to bush out...

Are you using a combination of the ADA liquid ferts? Also, did you consider using API root tabs instead?

Just using
DOOA SUIKEI LIQUID
but the substrates I'm using have a lot of nutritive value, so no root tabs for now. I've got the CO2 pumping pretty good, although the drop checker is not indicating much CO2 in the water, which makes me question the drop checker. Probably at 3-4 bubbles per second. pH is around 6.6, which is what I was targeting - not sure if the is due to the substrate, the CO2, or both. Long term I'll be using a Jebao doser with GLA macro and trace ferts...
