Hi, I’m new at taking care of the blue/purple plating sponge. My tank is established as I’ve had seahorses and soft corals in it for along time but I recently got a sponge a few months ago and it was doing great the whole time but now it is pink and tonight it is also shedding a layer of dead skin or something. If anyone has any help for me to get it back to the blue/purple color, I’d appreciate any advice. I did notice that the magnetic shelf it was on was a little low, so I moved the shelf up to middle of glass. I think after my last water change I forgot to lift up the shelf but if there’s anything else it could be please let me know. I feed my seahorses 2-3 times a day and have a 32 biocube tank. I run my bright lights from 10am-5pm, my ramp up/down from 7am-6:30pm and my blues from 6am-10:30. All my perimeters are always pretty good I do have a more nutrient rich water quality for my soft corals and I have photosynthetic and non also. All of my other corals are doing great except the sponge. I have 2 gargonians, cabbage coral, massive Kenya tree, gsp, assorted mushrooms, a devil’s finger, seaweed and a green toadstool leather. I can show a before picture where it was blue and a now picture being pink with shedding.
