Need help diagnosing and treating. All fish eating normal except 1. 4 fish have hazy eyes and skin looks hazy, 7 seem fine. May have white specs or maybe sand. Swimming normally, not rubbing on anything. All fish are in display tank. Have not added any new fish for over 6 months. Most of them I have has for 9+ years.

A couple of these fish being susceptible to such - This is velvet. You will need to isolate fish in a treatment tank and treat with coppersafe at therapeutic level 2.25-2.5 For a FULL 30 days (do not interrupt this 30 day period) monitored by a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.
The display tank will have to be kept fishless (FALLOW) for 6-8 weeks to assure the existing parasites go through their life cycle without a host fish and die off and with occupants exposed, they too should go into quarantine
A quarantine tank can be as simple as a tank from a second hand store, a rubbermaid type tub or a starter kit from Walmart which most of the needed essentials.

I am betting the odds of getting every fish out will be highly unlikely. How did it even get introduced

I dont see this being a CUC issue as velvet often triggered by stress, improper or no quarantine protocol, poor water quality, Overcrowding of tank as well as constant changes in water temperature especially if tank is by a window and getting hit by direct sunlight during the day

Yes, but I also thought there was a small possibility of velvet and ich tomonts riding on inverts, which will introduce them into the tank without proper quarantine.

Its very slim and seeing the history of inverts from reefcleaners, it appears their specimens are Very low risk. Risk will always exist in this hobby but CUC are often blamed whereas what causes I mentioned are often overlooked

Agreed, I have never had any problems with ReefCleaners for the past years.

I find it odd to see that velvet appeared now after the last addition to the tank was 6 months ago. Surely symptoms would be present for that new fish due to the stress when being put into a new tank 6 months ago?

The tank is 8’ and about 400 gallons with the sump. And I only have a dozen fish currently. Temp stays pretty consistent with the apex. I do weekly water changes of 10%. Salinity and ph stay consistent. I do feed on the heavier side I admit.
So the recommendation to remove all fish(hopefully) and do a copper treatment? And leave only cuc and coral in the tank for the next couple months.

Unfortunately I won’t have copper till Wednesday. Only have one fish store and they are of course closed on Tuesdays.
