Hey everyone my yellow watchmen goby was acting a little dejected and not eating for a couple days now hes very lethargic and breathing heavy ive had him about two years with no issues i ended up doing a fw dip and moving him to qt with copper not much visibly wrong except he had one tiny white speck between his eyes that was relatively new which actually seems to have gone away after the dip display tank is very stable nitrates and ammonia are good only thing i can think of is we had a pretty lengthy power outage that probably caused a decent temp swing but that was a couple weeks ago and he seemed fine afterwards any recommendations on additional treatments beyond the copper? Thanks a ton for any help he was one of my first fish when i got into the hobby so really dont wanna lose him :(

Have you added any fish recently that may have brought along parasites or diseasse?

Have you ever had other maladies you've had to address?

Can you supply a photo using white light and a 15 - 30 second video would be helpful.

Before suggesting medication, we should confirm a diagnosis as best we can. Fresh water dips have little therapeutic value and are not needed unless conditions (i.e. fishes comfort level) specifically indicate it may bring temporary relief.

Power outage likely affected oxygen
The speck can be a sand grain or small cyst from a nick but pictures are always helpful under white light intensity
Adddair stone and how are you testing water?

Heres a photo and video hopefully thats helpful nothing new added added to the tank in at least a couple months testing ammonia nitrate and nitrite with the api kit nothing else in the display tank is having issues and corals are nice and open as well i did have an outbreak of something that i never really completely diagnosed about 6 weeks ago that caused my clowns to have a mucus layer on their skin but i was successfully able to treat that and theyve been all good since was just getting ready to add them back to display at the 6 week mark when the goby started acting up

Breathing rate appears normal.

What medication did you use to treat the closwfish earler?

I assure the white spots on the goby are all normal skin markings.

Is he eating at all? If so, what are you feeding? Do you have a place for him to hide or any sand in which to burrow?

His breathing has slowed down quite a bit since i moved him to qt last night he it may be hard to tell from the vid but he is still breathing a little heavier than normal but much better than last night he is not eating at all though and hasnt from what i can tell for like 4 or 5 days he had his burrow in the display tank nothing atm in qt but heading to lfs soon to get any meds that may be recommended and get him something to hide in the clowns i treated with kordon rapid cure which is just all i had on hand when i had the issue but it seemed to do the trick and had them back to normal very quickly

And yeah his skin markings are normal he had a little white raised nodule that looked kinda like a big grain of sand on the top of his head and another by his lip that have been there maybe a week or so that seemed to fall off during the fw dip if that helps any other than that nothing visual is wrong from what i can tell

I am most concerned about his eating habits. He needs some high protein foods. It can be fresh, frozen, or pellets. However, be aware frozen foods, particularly frozen cubes, are mostly water and very little protein or fat percentagewise. Frozen cubes alone are not likely adequate to support fish long-term.

I have frozen marine cuisine and frozen mysis shrimp that he isnt interested in at all the display tank does have a pretty decent population of pods that I would usually see him picking at but that stopped as well i could try and see if my lfs has any live food if thats where youd suggest i go from here thanks again for the help as well :)

Yeah, finding something, anything he will eat is critical if he hasn't eaten in days. Usually, the frozen pellets attract them to eat and you can mix in some dry food, but in this case........ Maybe buy some fresh clams at the fish market and mince them .? Also, nori strips?

I think the goby is breathing deeper and faster than it should be.

I doubt the power outage was directly the issue as any oxygen or temperature swing would have caused more immediate stress.
However, your biofiltration could possibly have been affected - the water in the video looks cloudy, is that just a function of the video, or is it cloudy in person?

I understand your wanting to treat this, but without having added any new fish more recently, it is tough to see how a disease could have gotten started up.

I may have missed it; are there other animals in the original tank? If they are not showing any symptoms, I think you should focus on what could have affected just this fish. Small fish don’t have long lives, if it was a few years old when you got it, it could be old age.
