Looks great! What's the hole in the island for if you don't mind me asking? Love the wood countertops, goes perfect with the tile.

It's for a food prep sink. Thanks, wasn't sure I'd like the finished product. Now that I've gotten the final coat of poly on it, I'm super pleased with the tops!
I'll be installing the sink tonight; I can't believe it's been almost 2 years without a real sink!!!!

Rob, I just had to offer praise before I even finished reading the thread. What a lovely family. Getting the boys involved in demo and reconstruction is such a great idea. Skills learned that will serve them well in all thru life. and understanding what hard labor is...invaluable.

What an accomplishment. We are DIY kinda folks, and have done some pretty big projects around the house, so can appreciate and admire what you guys have done. amazing. That you do it all day for a living and keep working on your own house is amazing.

Plumbed and installed my sink! We've been using a plastic "garage" style sink since we bought the house. It's going to take some getting use to, having a real sink and dishwasher!

For the counter tops I used #2 common, so some of the planks aren't true squared which leaves gaps and I used a few that had worm holes. I wanted to keep a rustic look, to keep debris out of the cracks and voids, I ordered a 2 part epoxy and some glow in the dark powder.
It's hard to get a good pic of the glow.
