So I have a couple of smaller saltwater tanks but I started putting this one together in December. My goal was to build a nice tank with a low budget.
- 75 gallon and a 20 gallon long to use for the sump that I got at petco during their dollar a gallon sale. I designed and cut my own baffles for my sump but I based it off the trigger sumps. I love my clownfish so I used them as my sump theme. if anyone wants the corel draw file that I made to laser cut it can be downloaded for free here, I made it for a 20 gal long aqueon.
- Eclipses S Overflow - I went with the small as it said it was rated for up to 75 gallons. It has worked fine, but sometimes I wonder if there would have been an advantage to having the medium one.
- Sicce Silent 3.5 return pump. So far it is quiet and is performing very well.
- Duetto ATO. Love this thing! I seem to have a ton of evaporation so it has been a must! I picked up a cheap 6 gallon tube tank to use at my top off container
- Built my own stand out of 1x6 boards, I still plan on making cabinet doors to match my kitchen.
- A bunch of cheap natures ocean reef rock, spent hours cleaning this stuff out for multiple tanks but have been very happy with it, I am getting ready to add a new rockscape (approximately 30 more lbs of rock) on the left side of the tank!
- Coral Box d-500 plus skimmer - currently not hooked up but residing in my sump. I accidentally sucked all the nutrients out between this and chaeto ended up with a nice case of dinos because I over removed nitrates & phosphates, still resolving this
- 2 Jebao SLW-20 wave controllers, really like these, great price and seem to work really well! Thinking of adding a SLW-10 to get some more movement behind the back wall and the rockscape.
- Wanted to try something different with the background on this tank, I did an acrylic pour on wood and attached it to the back of the tank. Personally I really like how it turned out, it is very muted once I added water to the tank, but it gives it some added depth.
- Lights are Odyssea t5 quad timer lights, I currently have 3 api actinic bulbs and one blue plus. I really miss leds that I have on my other two tanks and will probably change these out when I can find a good price on them (hopefully around thanksgiving), but for now the timer works well for consistency
- Hygger 500w Heater with led control panel, I have been very happy with this and it seems to do a great job keeping its temperature.
