I don't think I know quite what that means why

Everytime I try a mangrove it keeps slipping down into the water, then the leaves die and the plant has to start over. It already a very slow grower and if it has to regrow leaves I can see how progress would be extremely slow. If not, then I'm guessing it would do better with a dedicated light
