I have a mertens in a 90 gal. It spreads up onto the glass when fully open. It might be as big as yours. Never had it in a tank it could spread out. Did you ever lose any fish to your mertens?

I've never lost a fish to it. Other than walking completely around that section of rock work once every 3 months or so it's been the perfect addition to my tank. When I got it, it was only about 12 inches across.
