That's a lot of old, pretty, source rock. I wonder what kinda life it originally had on and in it...

Almost $1400 in sticks and shrooms came in yesterday.

Something else is arriving at it's destination today... Frank, don't look at the invoice. You know it doesn't matter to me. 20230622_142931.jpg

So now I am thinking very hard about swapping out the 40g breeder I am using for a sump for the rubbermaid tub I have I think it's 100g. I would need to build some kind of framed base to bring it up off the floor. Would 2x4s work if I built it like a tank stand?
As far as evaporation goes what's the best way with that much surface area to mitigate the amount of water loss? It would be in my basement as well so I could run a dehumidifier. But is some kind of plexi cover an option?
I am alone this weekend and need a project (other then pulling weeds, I hate pulling weeds).

I would always leave it on the floor unless you had no other option, they're just structural foam, and can warp and sag over time if supported unusually. if you do bring it up, support both the bottom and the sides, like a cradle.

If you're not using a skimmer in there, just plain plastic sheet with a marble in the middle works. Duct tape firmly. You DO minimize gas exchange this way though, so maybe an ATO is a better option if your PH is low.

Floor would be easier but I need the space under for the ato. Maybe move that to the side. All I would need are some unions and more pipe to extend the drains and return. Need to think. I was going to just grab some cinder blocks and 2x8s and pop it on that. Didn't think about the flex issue.

It took me a minute to understand the reason for the marble but makes perfect sense. Thanks for the help.

Incidentally Blue Ridge is a copper sink. So if anyone has issues with possible copper in their source water.... Not saying just saying.
