I saw my Mel eat a baby Trochus the other day. He also finally decided Stomatellas are on the menu. Luckily he still hasn't decided the Emerald Crabs are edible. That was killed by the old melanuras.
Still forming up the male colors on the face, really pleasant to see. Just can't get that nice close up of him.I saw my Mel eat a baby Trochus the other day. He also finally decided Stomatellas are on the menu. Luckily he still hasn't decided the Emerald Crabs are edible.
Speaking of Wrasses, has the Four Spot(Yellow and Purple) transitioned yet? I think the last picture I saw it appeared to be transitioning.

Some odd reason, I have never wanted that fish. I've seen them several times and I always say "nope".Still waiting on the red coris to turn . Still looking clownfish like.

I have a handful of baby ceriths in the sump. The only ones who survived the melanurus were the ones who hide in the sand at night and the urchin. I have never seen nerite babies run around. Will turn into a he. Not sure what happens in the ocean to keep them female. Once they get into our tanks. They just start going all out male.Literally my favorite in the tank. Just a little curious guy inspecting the rocks.
Maybe one day he will be a jerk but for now he is "inspector" by name. Dunno if it's a he tbh yet. That's what's exciting about wrasse)
But the pretty ones are the females I think. Hmmm. Will turn into a he. Not sure what happens in the ocean to keep them female. Once they get into our tanks. They just start going all out male.
I don't know if females who turn male ever take on the full male apperance. @SaltyT might be the one to ask.But the pretty ones are the females I think. Hmmm.

He wants to keep it as a female. They may take the full on male appearance if needed or it’s near the end of its life span right before it looses its prime. Normally it just shows regular male colors. Noting too fancy but still good looking. Something that may encourage is another Halichoeres, but it also may provoke aggression and you just get an unhappy female red coris.
Gosh that's so smart. I do plan to get more eventually. This has me wanting to get out to the lfs this week. They may take the full on male appearance if needed or it’s near the end of its life span right before it looses its prime. I don't know if 2 will mix well. But, if you're like me and are willing to attempt, rehome if needed... yes.The real question is do I need a second Four Spot.....
