I'm so sorry for your loss, they're such great companions for us and it hurts to see them in so much pain. She truly was beautiful, I'm glad she had a great family to serve her for her nearly 18 years.Good morning all you cool cats!
Warning: long and sad post coming with a big photo dump.
Very rough night at the homestead last night. Lost one of my best friends of nearly 18 years: Squeaky aka - Squeakers, Squeaks. She was in one of her favorite spots, sitting beside me in our lanai, and went into a massive stroke. Very painful. We knew immediately that this was the end as her sister died the exact same way 3.5 years ago. Unfortunately, the stroke didn’t complete the job and she was in very bad shape and suffering. We rushed her to an emergency vet clinic and watched as they administered the shots needed to release her from her pain and usher her into whatever may come after this life. My better half and I did a lot of crying. Squeaky and I spent much of our time together in the night time as we both were up a lot during the night. My best calculations put our night time hours in the range of 19,000 to 20,000 hours together. Squeaky had an amazing life and probably got to see more of this country than most people. I will miss her dearly.
As I sit here trying to focus through my tears, I send happy thoughts to all of the rest of you that give good lives to our animal friends.
