My new Carberryi (aka Threadfin) anthias! They are so pretty! They school nicely, are eating well, and have great personalities. I've only seen them fight once. It was the first night and I think it was just over sleeping arrangements! :xd: Vicious though! Lots of pics!

Hide! This new tank is scary!

Thanks Rev and elegant_reefer!

Yes they are in the 150. They are usually on the left side of it, but do swim around the whole thing now and then. I think they really like the strong current and open space to swim.

When they get excited, they turn a little more purple for some reason. And a couple of them have red at the tips of their tails. You can see it on the fish with its mouth open.

They go nuts when I feed them. I've been trying to feed 3 or more times a day. They seem to like mysis, brine, cyclopeeze, and prime reef flakes. They don't seem to like formula two flakes or nori. I'm hoping to get them a little fatter, but they seem to be doing good so far.

Those are handsome fish, nice find! I believe Anthias are protogynist, so they can change from female to male within just a few hours. Maybe you will get a male, that would be cool.

Thanks! It was really hard to get good pictures of them! I took a lot before I got any I liked.

Thanks! I'm hoping one will turn into a male. I was afraid at first that I had gotten 3 males and 2 females, but now that they are in the tank and I can see them better, I think they are all females. I'd love for one to turn bright purple and yellow!

Just a little update. I haven't noticed any color changing from female to male yet. They are all still orange, no purple/yellow. :( There are two that look more dominant/fancy than the others and I think they are still trying to figure out which one is going to be the male. Will one ever change?

Thanks everyone! I should take some updated pictures. Anyone know how long it will take one of them to become male? I still haven't noticed any color changing, just a little agression between the two biggest ones.

Couple of those already look to be males. You'll notice their pelvic fins begin to grow into long trailers, and the lower half of their tail grow a trailer as well...

So are they not going to change colors? I was really hoping one would. I've had them since August and the two with the trailers do fight a little, but haven't done any damage to one another. I thought males would kill each other.
