I have 2 big algae growers in my display, purple coralline algae, and green bubble algae. Ever since I switch to metal halides in my tank. My purple algae is growing crazy, I mean super fast crazy, Just for comparison I put dry rocks into established tank 4 month ago, now it's completely covered in purple algae.

Anyways I have observed that purple algae is growing on top of the green bubble algae, covering it completely, then green bubble disappears, and it creates a hollow space Inside where green bubble was. Then another green bubble grows on top of coralline algae, and so on.. this makes my rocks larger and larger. Creates more holes for small critters to hide.
As much as I hate green bubble algae in my tank, this is kind of cool to observe

Pictures as promised, need to have batter camera for something small like this, but this is best I came up with zooming in with my phone to take the front ones. But in the middle of both pictures you can see green bubble algae covered in purple algae.
