I agree with the others that you are moving way to fast and sounds like you realize this mistake which is good. Patience is critical in this hobby. Please do not add mandarin fish until you have a very well established tank ecosystem that can support that type of fish. Typically this is around the one year mark.
An unforgettable experience lol.

I don't like mandarins. Too hard and finicky.

That isn't within my capability. It was too early.
I would echo what others are saying about the water quality you use.
If you cannot afford an RODI, look into getting your water from a store front water machine. Typically these are .25 - .35 cents /gal and would have at very minimum pre, carbon and RO stages that will remove most chlorine if they are serviced accordingly.
Even then, the quality of an ill serviced RO machine would net better quality than dechlorinated tap water.

I did the same thing when I first setup my tank. I went to a lfs every weekend and for many weekends in a row I would buy a fish. It eventually caught up to me and I ended up killing everything in the tank. After I let the tank sit empty for a while I began only adding fish and coral occasionally, and was much more successful.
It’s hard to resist the urge to get new fish and corals (especially when you find them for good prices) but in the long run adding stuff quickly will usually lead to failure and make the hobby less enjoyable. Slow and steady wins the race.
I am going to do just that.

I suppose you are right. I will look into that.

I understand, just fyi you can buy rodi water for.50 per gallon at the lfs or distilled water from a grocery store. It took me 8 months before I got a unit to make my own.

Yeah. I'll have to do that.
Thanks
And keep I mind you don't have to have a mounted hard plumbed RODI system. Mine just sits on the floor in my garage. When I need RODI I just take it out from and attach the garden hose. Few hours later I have 15 gallons of RODI to use.

I might just get one of those brute cans and just leave it in there.
