Hey I am looking for opinions on my amazing Bi colour Angelfish. My tank is around 50 gallons and he’s housed with 2 common clowns and a royal gramma.

Getting some live rock for him to graze on today so that won’t be an issue

Slow down.
Reefs are not built in a day.
Feed Nori and frozen made for angels.

Welcome to R2R.

Agree on tank age and especially a specimen that is hit and miss as to success rate. These fish when eating offer the best chance but also known to acquire dropsy, uronema and bacterial issues as well as some starving over time.
I would wait at least a month before considering any additions of fish

Thanks mate, from the video you seen he should be fine in my tank shouldn’t he. I feel it is big enough
Don't think he was agreeing with you.

Yes the tank is large enough.

The problem is it's stark and bare. These guys like to pick on the rock all day long.
Your rock has nothing at all to pick on.
I think you may have jumped the gun on that purchase.

its not just about the live rock. See my comment in your other thread. How much research did you do for tank cycling and on angelfish? Not just talking to a LFS and getting “its fine in the tank”, like actual research on the needs of angels? I know you said you kept fresh water, but salt angels are vastly different in care of freshwater angels (Ive kept both). Just seems like based on your other thread youre using tactics from freshwater keeping and applying them to saltwater and that isnt going to work. Hope that helps a little, angels in saltwater can be tough to care for but super rewarding so Im just trying to give you the best info for the best chance of success of keeping this guy long term

I agree with the above comments. I have a pair of Bicolor Angels (over 2 years). They definitely graze all day on the algae on the rocks. This is a must for them to survive. Good luck! This video was taken a year and an half ago. The rock is now covered with green algae.
