Jeffrey, looks like your heading in the right direction.

I've been battling N03 lately, high calcium and mag and decided to do some large water changes. I backed off my kalkwasser and switched to IO for salt. Was using Coralife.

What salt mix are you using?

Alk 8.5
Phosphates 0 they will come up a tad this week with feeding
Nitrates 5

Just saw this Don, I have been using Aquaforest Reef salt for the past 2.5 years.
I have been using Life Bio Fil in the sump to control my nitrates

Today's numbers
Mg 1500 I have really not cared for the salifert test kit on this one
Alk 8.4
Ca 448
Phosphates .02
Nitrates 5ppm
Tank 33
NSW 38 to raise the tank salinity a tad

What a difference is the looks of the corals since I found that my MP 40 mag was rusting and my veggie clip was also rusting in the water. I am not even leaving my glass cleaner in the tank anymore

a pipette with 1200ul tips. I am finding with the Hanna test that using the tip over and over the test become off. 1000 tips are $1300 call me lazy but cleaning tip in not in my game.

Woah, $1300 for lab tips? That's dedication to accuracy!

Wife use to work at a medical research lab and brought me home 10ml test vials in a 500 count bag. I used all of them over a couple years and into a bucket of vinegar water they went for a soak. I still use them to this day.

Upgrade to Tunze -- they don't have those rust problems. After having 2/3 mp10's rust, and my friend having 1/2 brand new mp40's rust... I'm done with mp's. They're rust buckets.

The key is inspection and knowing:) It would be great if there were a review and the reviewer went into the rusting issue, instead of have the problem and find out the it is a common issue.

Nice looking tank, have always liked the bow fronts... I just recently went through the rusty magnet issues, my tank was going down hill fast and after checking everything possible I finally found a rusty magnet, big water change and adding a poly filter for a few days really turned things around quick.

Thank you for the compliment.:)

It is amazing how fast the dt went down hill and what a rusting magnet can do you a system.
