Hi everyone,

I am moving across the country and I don't know if I should keep or sell the equipment. I currently have a IM fusion 10 with an apex, dos, mp10, Kessil a360x , tune osmolator 3155, and some other testing equipment. If I get a new tank I would upgrade o a bigger tank (20-60 gallons). I have 3 options:
- I sell everything and buy everything again after I move.
- I sell only the fish tank, and ship/travel with the apex, Kessil a360x, mp10 etc.
- I sell everything and take a break from the hobby.

What do you guys think? Is it stupid to sell everything to buy it all again? Any opinions are welcomed!

I moved from Rhode Island to California in 2018.

I had a 180 built in to the wall. What I kept

All apex stuff
All mp40s
CO2 regulator
Hydra lights (there were only 2 from the frag tank)
If you have a high-end return pump, I'd consider keeping that.

What I sold was my calcium reactor, skimmer, all the random reactors on the manifold, all the tanks ( dt, frag, sump Three were plugged together).
And all the random maxi jets etc.

When I got to California I muddled around with a small tank for a year or so before getting my 320 gallon. Now. Keeping the Apex in the MP40s is a pretty big break on the wallet.

Hope that helps.

never sell your equipment, easy to move and can put in storage indefinitely. when you get the urge just need a tank.

My personal opinion:

If you're moving more than a hundred miles or so, you should sell/donate all livestock and any tanks larger than 30 gallons. Keep all other equipment, with the possible exception of heaters (which you should be replacing regularly anyhow).

If any of your LED fixtures have seen close to 25,000 hours, it might be worth selling & replacing those. Powerheads, controllers, etc., have a long lifespan and are usually expensive to buy new, so unless you're getting out of the hobby I wouldn't ever sell that kind of stuff.

I would definitely sell the tank if you want to go bigger anyway, but I would hold on to the equipment. Most of what you listed would be well suited for a larger tank anyway.

Plus, unlike a tank the equipment is easy to move. It doesn’t need any special attention paid to it like a glass tank does.
