What have you done to your tank that you would attribute to it's success?
For me it's been several things coming together in harmony; First off, getting my bio pellets dialed in, I added far too many pellets at once and had a surge in bacteria that caused a huge cyano outbreak , for weeks I tried adding different brands of bottled bacteria but nothing seemed to help. I was also starving the tank but this also seemed to make things worse. After several weeks, closer to a month, I just said to myself "the heck with this starving my fish stuff" and at the same time I had picked up a yellow tang that was slightly emaciated, so I began to feed like crazy, I picked a fresh pack of PE mysis and ReefFrenzy Herbivore Frenzy from Aquatic Marine. After about 3-4 days of feeding both meaty foods the cyano in my tank began to recede, after just under two weeks all the cyano was gone, my fish and corals have responded so well.
My second attribution is Red sea's coral colors, I began using the 4 part additive after speaking with the Red Sea sales rep at MACNA 2013 in Miami. He gave a pretty darn good job at selling his product (free box of the ABCD bottles), so I decided to give Coral Colors a shot. I think it took about a month or so but my corals really began to grow and show off their awesome colors. Some could say that it's just the placebo affect in action, but "they" would be wrong! Back around August, I got so busy with work or just got lazy.....NAH, got too busy, yeah that's it, anyways, I began to notice some of my acros slowing down in growth and they weren't as brightly colored. I figured my tank just needed some water changes and after a week or so everything would perk back up, well to my dismay I didn't see any improvement, so I took a glance at my tank maintenance log book and realized that I hadn't dosed Coral Colors in quite some time. I got back into rhythm of dosing on Sundays and unsurprisingly after a couple of weeks all my corals returned to their former glory.
Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
