ok so i finally decided to get a sps for my new tank and i’m gonna be holding it in my old one but i have a question

ok so when it’s closed part of it looks white on the bottom i’m assuming the top means new growth

my second question is why dose only the one side have polyps because it was vertical in the store

and here’s a picture of it

Both sides have polyps but if one side looks bleached/white it’s probably because of how the colony is oriented. Over time it will color back up if you decide to change the orientation
ok so should i try and orientate it sticking straight up or like that

How ever you wish. There’s no right or wrong way. Most people would probably do straight up
And on the other hand, a number of reefers will say to mount frags sideways in order to encourage growth. I haven't done this yet, but as I cut frags to move from my 40g to my 120g, I'm going to try mounting some horizontally vs vertically to see if there is any noticeable difference.
