I've had so many Neptune optical sensors fail that I started looking for a cheaper alternative. I found this guy on Amazon for $9 and decided to see if I could get it to work with the Neptune 3.5mm jack on their optical sensor.
When I cut the wires on the 3.5mm jack they were a different color (black, green, red, white) than what was on the optical sensor from Amazon. After some research and trial/error I finally got it to work. Here is the combo that worked for me...
White to white
Red to red
Green to blue
Black to yellow
I also decided to mount them on some different magnets to keep the wires out of the water. All my old sensors have eventually leaked and ruined the sensor. Hopefully, this helps someone else...
