So, as my wife will confirm, I am a man of multiple talents...but having an eye for beauty/artistry isn't one of them. I'm one of those guys who shouldn't be allowed to dress myself and walk out of the house without inspection by someone with at least a modicum of style sense. So...that brings me to my question...

Would you mix different types of rock in an aquascape? Or does this make for bad aesthetics? I've got some pretty cool tonga branch rock and also some pukani and also a few and also a few coral skeletons and also a few other types... I'm thinking mixing all of these is likely to be disastrous from a design perspective. Should I limit myself to 1 (or perhaps 2) types?

I like you have no eye for art, I'm a self confessed philistine. But my thinking is, give ot time and the whole thing is going to be covered with coral so can't see why it would matter. But I'm sure someone more artistic will be along soon, JMO

I don't like the look of mixed rock and would never do that in my tank. Every tank I've seen like that I thought looked bad unless the tank was older and the coral was so overgrown you could never see the rock.

I consider myself an artist (I went to the Art Institute of Pgh) both in the media sense and aquascape of my tank. What I have found is that if you are patient no matter what kind of rock, or even plastic ornaments; it all has the same film algae on it after a year or so. Both of these are aquarium ornaments and they are the same color as all the other rock. I also have coral skeletons in the tank. I am ok with different shapes and textures.
