So, I have an innovative marine 20 g that came with the mighty jet mini pump and after I did a water change and turned the pump back on, it starts up but then gives me an error of e4. I took the pump apart and cleaned it, plugged it back in, and it does the same thing. Runs fine for about 10 minutes then stops. I’m guessing the pump is a goner but wondering if there’s anything else I can try.

I found this on their website.

MightyJet Error Codes:

  • E1: Over Voltage Protection - Input voltage over 30V
  • E2: Under Voltage Protection - Input voltage under 12V
  • E3: Over Current Protection - Input current over 2.54amps
  • E4: Dry Run Protection - Pump out of water
  • E5: Impeller Seized - Impeller not spinning
  • E6: Controller Board - Controller overheated

Possible that there's air bubbles stuck in it?

Not sure. I would have thought submerging it after cleaning it would have fixed it. I’ll try pulling the tubing off and maybe see if that helps.

Swish the pump around. Sometimes there's air in the pump that's stuck.

Did you try unplugging the pump for like 2 minutes or so?

Unfortunately lol it pumps for like 30 seconds then stops, then restarts, then stops. I’m wondering if maybe it’s the controller??

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. Or a sensor is knocked around when you were cleaning? Maybe dismantle and retrace it slowly to see if there's something off?
