Is this normal? I have a midas blenny that I had for about two months now. He’s doing fine, eating like normal, swimming like normal, but he will hide the second he sees someone near the tank. If you look away he will come out, but the second you look at him he will hide in a rock with his head sticking out looking at you. I almost got him on video swimming, but he saw me and hid. Also ignore the algae, I like it lol. IMG_1340.png

It’s because he’s wild caught from the ocean and he has a natural fear of…almost everything. It will take time. They will eventually learn you are not a threat and you feed the tank and he will get less skittish

I was worried something was bullying him. It’s good that it’s normal. Even when I feed him, he will poke out for a few seconds eat, then immediately hid again

Some species are “hiders”

My firefish did the same thing. Took almost a year and now he’s out in the open all the time unless my arm goes in the tank.

My Tang is super shy also but starting to be more brave and less skittish. Had him about 2 months.

My anthias - out since day 1. Never showed shyness
