mating mandarins....

just had to share....
i just happened to be walking by the tank a few minutes ago and glanced over to see my male and female mandarins doing the mating dance! wow, it was so amazing to see. i came back a few minutes later to see them mating all over again! really exciting to see nature in the works

wish i had my camera close by

this is the first time i have seen them do this and was approx an hour after lights out. they have been in the tank together for about two months.
anyway, just wanted to share my evening excitement! woot !

yup. it's that time of the year. i had a pair mating a few months ago and just had some maxi mini carpet anemones spawn last week. videos all on youtube.

Go to MOFIB.org It is a Marine Ornamental Fish, Invertebrates Breeders site...I believe the Mandarin was one of their breeder projects picked for this year in the difficult category. They would probably love to have any info or pictures you have regarding your set up, how long you've had them, etc. Might help to get them bred and raised in captivity. Great news BTW.

are mandarins still up there, because mandarins have already been done
as have filefish apparently
just curious but what size tank do you have these in? im more interested in height then other dimensions

well i guess im not sure what you mean theyve already been done and are they still up there? if you are saying people are over them, been there dont that kinda thing. im not sure as far as popularity? to each his own i guess.
for me personally i think they are georgeous fish and were a definite purchase for me when i started stocking the 120. i had already had a female but had purchased the male for her a couple months ago.

as far as the tank its a 120 and is 24" height i believe...
