So I’m currently running a manifold that has two outlets one is currently populated by a carbon reactor and a gfo reactor and the return for the two inline reactors is just flowing into my sump. The second outlet is currently unpopulated. So since I currently have no plans to install anything on it I got the idea: what if I put a check valve on the return of my reactors and hooked it up to the empty manifold outlet? Would that work? Or would the flow from the return pump be too much for the reactor return flow?

If you put a manifold supply on the exhaust pipe of your reactors then they will have 2 supplies pushing against each other and nothing would flow through the reactors, they would not have any exhaust for the water to flow into.
If you take one of the reactors and put it on the extra supply you will have more control over how much water passes through the reactors and possibly less water return to the tank?
