If water quality is critical why not conduct a test? Oceamo do ICP-MS on RO and saltwater in Europe. Has just identified tin contamination somehow/somewhere in my RO system. That was on freshly made RO/DI water. If needing high purity water your whole system is maybe a bigger overall risk regarding contaminant ions than the tub? You could stand either RO or salt in the tub and test after a period. I am currently working on clearing the tin and will use Oceamo tests ongoing

Elevated tin on ICP tends to be false positives a lot of times. It’s one of the most asked questions on this forum related to ICP results.

That's a fine plan, but bear in mind that many of the materials released from plastics are organics and will not be detected by ICP.

Surely all of the dissolved metal ions end up assayed by icp though? Does it not measure organically bound ions as well after everything has been vaporised?

It does not detect wholly organic materials, which are often added to plastics, uv stabilizers, heat stabilizers, plasticizers, etc.

Plastics/contaminants are a minefield I wasn’t aware of until recently. Liked the idea of PTFE for ultrapure water storage until I saw the price
