Keep it affordable and simple, use egg crate and attach a power head magnet. I did it with an old magnetic glass cleaner. Works beautifully.

Bet it looks exactly how it sounds ...

Just because it is a DIY suggestion, doesn't make it ugly.

People bellyache about how expensive this hobby is. And the need for this decorative frag rack is a prime example. Why spend $50 on a decorative frag rack when the same result can be achieved with a piece of egg crate?

Respectfully, it does't matter if you want it in your tank. What matters is if I mind having it in my tank.

It is a good solution as it allows me to easily adjust the amount of light frags get by raising and lowering it without putting my hands in the tank.

It is something I do, and I don't mind appearance as I am results-oriented.

A typical frag rack is nothing more than what u have, and I would put that in my tank if I wanted a typical frag rack.... But if u see the picture above (to me) is well worth whatever the buyeris willing to pay. Imo respectfully.

Back in 2014 I had a floating frag rack from The Alternative Reef. It had a large Tunze magnet and was human-made rock. I took the tank down and sold the frag rack. I am looking into starting a new tank and really wanted to get another one of these but The Adaptive Reef seems to be not selling anything anymore? I spent some time looking around for something similar and all I could find was this or similar. I am looking for something like the Adaptive Reef rack because it had a little cave that fish loved to swim in/out of.

Anyone have any info?

Love my @Aquarocks

Here’s why it’s better than eggcrate. Looks aside for right now

This is 12 permanent attachment points for corals. Permanent. That’s the difference.

Eggcrate holds frags. On plugs. Temporarily. Nobody wants sps or gonipora or whatever encrusting over the plug onto eggcrate. It’s an irregular weird surface and not natural looking.

With the aquarocks, each frag plug spot is like a 2” shallow curved dish, it’s designed to hold the plug and have the coral encrust over it, and onto the shelf, with space to make a nice base, and blend into the shelf, which blends into the tank, looking like branch or live rock

the piece magnets to my rear wall, and extends into the tank keeping corals away from my glass allowing them room to grow. I have 12 mount points added and the corals are near center of the tank, in good flow, instead of stuck by the glass where they would have 1-2” tops for expanding branches

These sps frags have a permanent spot now, that they didn’t before.

Those are the ones I got! Thinking about picking up a few more.
Oh nice! I thinks I will gets some in the near future.

I just got 10 of these for my sandbed to get some things elevated and grow out some mini domes of acans

I threw a torch in one, works great. But I do want some stuff to fill in my back wall so the angled aquarocks will do that job nicely

I had to make a rock doughnut like that recently as my Tang decided it would be fun to take the printedreef one I had holding a duncan and drag it all over the tank. Its not a big duncan but not tiny either about 10 heads. He had a rock he was playing with but I think he lost it.
