My magnesium was low so I mixed up 1.5 cups Seachem Reef Advantage Magnesium in filtered water, stirred over course of 30 min then poured in the right side of my tank. I didn’t use enough water and I had undissolved crystals that sunk to the bottom and landed on some corals. The reaction was immediate and the results are still visible 6 hours later

First thing I did was turn my mp10/40 combo to 100% to blow the crystals off so they can dissolve in the water and stop irritating the corals

The moseleya slimed up snot for a hour and I kept sucking it off with a baster and removing from the tank. This is no longer happening but I have burn marks from the crystals

My Duncan colony is still releasing neon green snot slime and some heads have black tips now

Magnesium chloride? I expect any damage has been done already, not a lot you can do except avoid repeating it.
Lol well I will be sure not to. If I do I’m surrendering my Reefing Card

The Moseleya is a thin flesh lps, not very common, it’s actually done this before just from regular dips. I find it’s very sensitive and I’m not surprised.

Duncan’s are very durable and while I expected irritation, the black polyp tips is surprising and unexpected. I wonder if it will spread to the other heads that didn’t have crystals land in them, and I wonder if I should be dipping to prevent infection.

Know idea why they would add sodium chloride to it, lol. Perhaps someone at the label printing place was having a giggle. Or perhaps they use salt as a baulking agent, dunno.

It’s the Seachem way of getting chloride sulfate balance. In the past they claimed mag chloride had too much ammonia to use.
