Magnesium powder question

I have used Kents in the past but looking for a more money saving route. I have found Magnesium Chloride and Sulfate for reefs in a powder form, which seem much cheaper. What is the difference between the Chloride and Sulfate, which is better? I have read where they are mixed together is that correct?

if you use straight sulfate from what I hear you do get an increase in sulfate above ocean values. chloride is just part of sodium chloride.

along with sodium bicarbonate for carbonate you can get an increase in salinity especially with calcium chloride use as well. But that is much easier to maintain and not all that worrisome

Hence the use of both magnesium sulfate and chlorides.

Thanks for the video link. After viewing it I did a research to understand why the difference in mixture ratios. I use a kalk drip so now know and understand the ratio. On prebottled it tells the amount to use and I do not want to shock my system but can I use the same amount? I was using 1ml/gallon.
