I feel like macroalgae gets overlooked. Even folks who appreciate it often keep most of it in their sump where it works hard but doesn't get appreciated as beautiful. Most of my macroalgae is in my display and gets the same awe that my coral and fish get. They have a lot to offer so maybe give them a try,,,in the display!

My yellow tang loves when I move some macro from the fuge to the display - it doesn't last long though :face-with-tears-of-joy:
Yes, most tangs don't give macros a fighting chance. I have a tomini tang but they are more detrivore than herbivore.

Awesome thank, I would love to do this. I come from fresh water so right up my alley. But I love my fox face and now I have a large enough tank for a tang, it would not stand a chance

I hear you! I would love a foxface or some other tangs but my tank is too small and I can't part with the macroalgae. I do have a sweet tomini tang and a coral beauty angel but both just pick detritus. With any tank there are limitations which is why it is so easy to end up with multiple tank syndrome, LOL. Luckily I have grown out of that.

my turbos make a point of eating any red macro, I have no clue how people prevent that or if it’s a different turbo snail
Ha ha, I don't have any turbo snails! I have bee snails and nassarius and a cucumber.

Gorgeous! I keep macro in my display as well, though only 2 of the 5 species I started with survived my GHA stage. Totally underrated beauties, and pruning them for nutrient export makes me feel like I’m gardening!
Yes, I feel like reef keeping and gardening are a similar skill set. Maybe when the GHA is under control you could try some more macros. I don't have success with all macros. I would love to keep sargassum but have never been able to. Also I have had dismal luck with calcareous macroalgae. So I keep what I can.

I tried dragons breath and it was beautiful until my turbos figured out it’s edible. I had it for a month then they ate it over a weekend
Bummer, I guess I will stay away from turbo snails then.
