Hi,

My water even after the RO/DI filtering has 15-16 kh/DH I tested it after adding salt before the water change, in the aquarium its a bit lower about 14-15. How do other people deal with this issue without lowering the pH in the tank? I've got my tank for about 6 months and had my nem for about 3-4months its still really small (one I bought was a tiny baby), and it's not as "plump" for a lack of a better word. This picture was taken about 3 months ago but it looks the same or even a bit less plump than that.

If hardness is not that much of an issue would any one have any other ideas? pH is 8.3 and salinity 1.025.

The ro/di is 0 ppm tds?

what salt mix?

Yes, I have recipes to lower it, but you should rule out test error first.
Thank you for your reply.
It is 0 ppm tds, salt mix i use is iquatics Ocean Reef Pro.
The test kit i've been using is Salifert, i tested water twice with a sample of aquarium water, later prepared more fresh salt water just to see the parameters.

what alk test?

They do not seem to have much confidence in their formulation specifications:

*Based on a 20-litre mix at 25 degrees Celcius
Ocean Reef Pro Coral when mixed will provide a dkH of between 7 -11

Here’s an alk reduction recipe. I’d do it in new salt water, lowering the alk very low, then aerate, then use for water changes.
