I got my first batch of coral frags on Tuesday. I dipped them using CoralRx put them on new frag plugs and put them in a QT tank. I noticed what looked like little white hairs or tentacles on the stony base/skeleton of one of the acan frags. I took some pictures to post to ask if this was normal or what they were. And as soon as I zoomed in on the photos I could see they look very mush like aiptasia. Can anyone confirm?

If they are aiptasia, what do I do now? Luckily they are in the QT tank, but they are in there with 4 other frags (one more acan, two blastos and a Duncan) and a rock flower nem. Do I treat them directly with Aiptasia-X and continue the QT? Do I need to remove all the frags, empty the QT, clean/sterilize, refill and start the QT over? I assume I should act as if everything in the QT has some aiptasia on it now?

Any advice/help is very appreciated! Thanks!

Aiptasia X or lemon juice into the mouth of the aiptasia when open, some super glue over the area and you'll be fine.

Looking at these more closely, I'm not sure they are aiptasia. A picture in white lighting would be super helpful.

They are white tentacle/hair like structures that appear to have webbing or star shaped arms at the end. You can see the "arms" better in the pictures under the tank lighting. The pictures are fuzzy, but you can make out the structure there.

I agree, it looks more like just tube worms to me

I don't think those are aptaisia. Need better pics to confirm
Look like feather dusters

This is the best I could do with my iPhone. The macro mode on the camera seems to focus better with the tank lights on vs off. I also took some videos too.

Keep them in qt and watch if anything else shows up. The feather dusters are fine but I can’t see what else is lurking in the shadows.

If an Aiptasia appears I would pull the frag and cover the entire area where it appears with gorilla glue gel to encapsulate the evil hitchhiker(s).

Be diligent and careful to avoid moving anything evil into the DT. If Aiptasia are detected they may have already spread to the other frags & new plugs. So just wait and watch until you are certain that everything that gets moved is wanted.
