So I live off grid and haven't met too many solar powered reefers. I bought the old Current light strip about 10 years ago and it's grown some nice LPS dominant corals. Maybe it works with such low par since the natural sun comes in the window and lights up the tank from time to time.
It seems people buy high wattage lights and run them really low so they don't burn their corals. We're learnign more and more in the hobby how corals can adapt to low light. My question in selecting an upgrad is do I stick with Current and just get som 50Watt Hanging loop lights?
I just love the color so much better than the AI I have on my 30 gal.
I don;t think people give Current enough credit. I just like the blue-violet purple color with Current so much better than AI's. Even though I've messed with the setting s ton to match current. the AI blue just seem so much more blue than I'd like.
I have a DSB so minus 3-4 inches from the bottom and it's 48' wide. SO about 80-90 gallons.
So I'm thinking 3 of the 52 Watts would be perfect. ANy other /better suggestions for a light with a similar spectrum to the Currents which may be a little better and also programmable. I'm willing to pay more but don;t want to buy something overpowered. I may evenjust go for two strips I can hang...
Here's what one reefer got for Par readings for the CUrrent 52Watts (still a lot of power for my solar system) in his tank from 800-175 PAR: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/r...as-r24-reef-led-52-watt.893141/#post-12947826
Thanks for any feedback for better lighting!
