Hey Guys,
i have a rebel xt with the standard lens. I have been looking at Macro lens for a while now. Well my in laws surprised me with the canon 60mm macro lens. I was very excited but realized i was looking at the canon 100mm macro lens. So they said i could exchange it if i wanted and pay the different.

So should i just be greatful and keep the 60mm or get the 100 mm lens?

I tested it out already and need to play with it more but i wanted to get closer!!! so will i be happier with the 100mm macro?

thanks!

Hey surfn, I really like your pics. what lens/camera are you using. I use a Cannon XTi and a Cannon 100mm Macro ... my pics look nothing like yours. PM me with some tips or your picture taking methods if you can.

Surf is using the 150mm Sigma I believe.

I use the 100mm myself.

the 100mm is still a good lens, if not better than mine.

i'm using the canon 40D plus sigma 150mm macro lens

post your pics in a thread here in the photography forum so we can see and give you pointers.

I would probably go for the 100mm depending on the price difference. The min. working distance of the 60mm is .65 feet and the min. for the 100mm is 1ft. So you'll be able to get better magnification with the 100mm and also be able to get a little more room between you and your subject. Might not be a big deal for corals since they don't move, but if you like shooting outdoor nature type macros you'll probably have an easier time getting good shots witht the 100mm.

Can we see some test shots now? :D

My 100mm macro lens guide says 6 inches?
