Bumping this thread, got the fixture hung today, just want to say first off it’s AWESOME! I absolutely love the spectrum of the T5. I did coral plus, blue plus, radion, blue plus, coral plus and switched the spectrum to my radion from a WWC preset to AB+ as I was looking for a more daylight spectrum to enjoy the colors of my fish. I set the fixture at 9” and have the xr15 set to 60%, the t5 I currently have running for 6hrs coming on about 45 mins after the xr15 hits peak, and turning off about two hours and forty five minutes before the xr15 ramps down into the blues of AB+. Can anyone offer any advise to this? Tomorrow will be the first day of the t5 for the full six hours so I will monitor the corals throughout that time and see if any thing looks unhappy. Any input on my schedule is encouraged and greatly appreciated, thanks

Bumping this thread again, posted a new one this am but should have just come here. After running the hybrid for about a month and a half ive decided to go full t5 im going to take the xr15 off the tank and add in a 2 bulb reefbrite Supra. Currently running 2 blue plus 2 coral plus thinking about adding in another blue and maybe a purple also have a couple aqua blue specials I can throw in. Going from 4 to 6 bulbs could I stand to raise the fixture an inch or two? To help with heat and also access into tank

You may lose a little par overall swapping out your XR15 at 60% for 2 T5. Just be aware when raising the fixtures that you will be lowering par.

I’ve gotta say, I’m a big T5 and halide fan. I find them both better than LED for SPS long term health. That being said, you are giving up spectrum controllability, coral pop, and output control. You may come back to this set up. I would hold on to the Radion.

The cool thing about this type of experimentation is watching how the acros respond. All lights are not equal.

Yes I will probably look into a fan or two before I raise the fixture up. Tbh one of the things I like about t5 is that they don’t have all the controllability you just put the bulb configuration in that looks good to you and turn it on. I may play around a bit since I’ll have two independent fixtures with timing, such as running just blue bulbs, then bringing on some whites, then back to blues or something like that and also if at all possible have some additional led even if not for anything more than just the blues
