hi, i'd say no, too much iron leaching.
I have maintained a coldwater marine tank with some lava rock in the past, though leaching from the rocks (and other freshwater substrate) likely caused the never ending diatom bloom in said system . Plus, the surface area of lava rock (and thus its biological filtration capabilities) is inferior to that of ceramic bio-media in the hobby.I believe it has high metal content which isn't a good thing necessarily.
