ReefBot Lab - Tests Update

Dear ReefBot Lab Community,

We're thrilled to share some exciting updates regarding our ReefBot Lab devices! Here's what's new:

Tropic Marin Nitrate Pro Update: We've rectified the testing sequence for better results and tested it extensively with our Beta Testers. If anyone encounters any issues with the new sequence or has feedback, please let us know.

Additionally, we've added a scheduled stirring test feature that you can choose to run or ignore. This feature is beneficial for users who don't test often, as it ensures that reagents don't go stale.
To schedule it, simply navigate to the main dashboard in the mobile app or web dashboard, and click on the "Schedule" option at the top of the screen. The Tropic Marin Nitrate stirring option will be automatically added if you have its reagents set up on your device. We recommend running it once per day, preferably overnight when the device is not testing.

API Calcium Test Update: We've added a stirring test to the API Calcium test as well, along with rectifying the endpoint color reading. This update addresses lower readings reported by some users.

Tropic Marin Phosphate Pro Update: Temporarily, we're not recommending the Tropic Marin Phosphate Pro test kit. We're currently working on an update due to the high viscosity in reagent 2, which is preventing the reagents from being drawn into the syringe. In the meantime, we recommend using the Redsea or Colombo Phosphate test kits instead.
Alternatively, we're actively seeking new phosphate tests to make it compatible with the device, particularly test kits primarily available in Europe. Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

Magnesium Tests Update: the following has been rectified: Salifert, RedSea, Giesemann, & Colombo to address an issue related to higher than usual values that some users reported.

Notes:
  • For best practices with Magnesium tests, kindly make sure that your RODI water has a TDS of 0.
  • Users who have no issues with these tests will not see any change.
We're committed to continually enhancing the ReefBot Lab to provide you with the best testing experience possible. Your feedback and support are invaluable to us as we strive to make aquarium maintenance easier and more efficient for all ReefBot Lab users.

If you made a unit that was smaller and only tested Po4 and No3 - and could test once a day for 30 days without maintenance… I feel like you would sell that like hotcakes.

Most of the other params I don’t worry about and Trident tests CA, Alk, Mg… the 2 tests I want are No3 & Po4.

This is not a criticism, I seriously have been wanting a device to automate testing those 2 elements and just feel that would be a popular device, so hopefully this is a helpful post.

Very nice! These are the kinds of updates we want and like to see. Also, it is good to see the 'stir' function being added to more test.

Small note and is mainly just to polish, but could the 'stir' be under it's own heading? 'Device hardware test' just sounds like the wrong title for it. Possibly add a check box on the schedule setup for the specific test, i.e. the Tropic Marin NO3 scheduling page, that will add the stir function and activate second & third fields that adds the frequency and date/time when checked?

Ultimately, glad to see the function in place, just my idea on how to help polish it.

Maybe you could partner with Hanna instruments and use their reagents or something.

Powdered reagents won't work with the Bot. The syringe carrying/measuring system wouldn't be able to pick them up. I had mentioned before that the packets could be diluted into a specific amount of RODI water, but I do not know how long the powdered reagents last once introduced into water. Also, I would think the amount of water required to dissolve multiple packets would be a fair amount.

The idea of a smaller tester is not bad, especially one that could supplement and integrate into the Apex (or other) ecosystem and fill in the missing tests. It also could be seen as a 'budget friendly' device, especially if more could be added to the system later to add more test capabilities. This would allow people who are unwilling/unsure to drop ~$1300 all at once, or their requirements might change/expand. I think RK should seriously consider this. In fact, I'll add this to the suggestion tracker.

I worked with Hady to get the ABC Reagents used by the trident to work in the Reefbot Lab. So I ditched my trident and it does the 3 same tests the trident does with the same reagents and I can additionally do Phos, Nit, pH and Ammonia all in one unit!!

Hello! We're always open to design and product changes based on market demand and user feedback. I've forwarded your recommendation to the relevant team members. Thanks for sharing your input!

Unfortunately, Powder reagents are not recommended when using the ReefBot, even when diluted. We would be more willing to add these to our compatibility list otherwise.

Would it be possible to record how much tank water it uses per test and RO (RO bit easier to monitor as you can see the remaining but love to see how much tank water uses per test

Hello, each test requires approximately 80ml of water. Please see https://reefkinetics.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/151000152613-what-is-the-estimated-time-and-reagent-consumption-and-water-consumption-of-each-test-on-the-reefbot for more information regarding other volumes.
