I have always had male dogs. They definitely need an extra year to mature than females lol! He is a goofy thing at home. But in public he is a serious dog. Always on alert. Probably just the breed!
Lol moose is just goofy. Everywhere. Super alert and attentive and listens and behaves well but just wants to love and lick everyone.
Wouldn't want to be on the other end of anything bad with him though that's for sure. Definetely knows what his job is.

Another Newfoundland family here...
We have had 4. Two most recent in pic with Dadda! My girl on left just passed on Dec 7th, her brother BIG 200 lb Chevy passed 2 years ago now. We volunteer with Newf Rescue here, so rest assured there WILL be more in our future. House quiet, can't live without em...

@Mastiffsrule I found a picture of my first mastiff the other day. She was the one with Addison’s disease, Sarah, but lived to be about 7. She’s about trixies weight here but hit about 250 (solid muscle, not fat) and filled out when she turned 3 or so.... In other words, let here eat the cheeseburgers! Haha.

Hi All just wanted to start a thread here- Mainly so I dont have to continue to hi jack @Mastiffsrule thread haha.
Brief history we just had one of our 14 yrs old mixed breed pass away last year. Very sad and my wife took it super bad.
Prior to her passing we had been in discussion about adding a new member to the family. We agreed on one thing she wanted a smaller easier to care for dog and I wanted a big dog and after a couple years debate of getting a new puppy she finally came to me one day and said maybe it is time.
To me that was the green light I needed lol! And I ran out and picked up the biggest dog I could find at the moment hahahaha.
I feel like my wife instantly knew that's exactly what I was going to do lol.
Anyhow since bringing our new baby home my wife has fallen in love with this monster! He doesnt leave her side.
Biggest baby in the world literally afraid of his own shadow. Our joke in the house is it's ok he has mama but i protect him haha.
Super well behaved and socialized there are videos of him floating around youtube with a baby wiener his own age crawling all over his head lol.
Just got his DNA back today he is 37.5% Dogue Bourdeax Mastiff, 37.5% Cane Corso and the rest Bull Mastiff.
Super happy to hear no risk for any issues besides he may need to wear glasses when he gets older lol
He is 9 months old and 117 lbs his last appt!
He gained 1.75lbs/day his first 2 weeks we brought him home lol. Wasn't very small for long haha
Anyhow I could talk about my boy Moose all day long. 20190912_192542.jpg 20190913_130630.jpg 20191003_211527.jpg 20200123_184104.jpg 20200206_223822.jpg 20200215_163621.jpg 20200215_204538.jpg 20200215_205335.jpg 20200229_200740.jpg 20200312_221606.jpg 20200418_114355.jpg

My buddy has a English MastiffPoodle mix. Bigger than my boy. Jet black looks like a huge stuffed animal. Just as goofy too:)

Ok, I am all about this thread! I love giant breed dogs. Especially Alaskan Malamutes. I‘ve had two.

The first was a gift for my wife in 2013. He was a red giant, named Spock. He was the runt of the litter, so I didn’t expect him to get very big, but he was 175 pounds by the time he crossed the rainbow bridge in May 2019. He was my baby.

The second malamute was a surprise from my wife to me for a PTSD dog when I left the army in 2015. Her name is Khaleesi, she’s all white, and she is absolutely the most loving dog I’ve known. She used to be super aloof, and not want to cuddle, but now she’s such a clingbat. I’m so grateful for her.

We finally broke down and got another dog after our last two malamutes passed away about 5 years ago. Found this girl in a malamute rescue group. She’s about half the size of our last 2, and now with kids, we are grateful for the less weight to deal with!

Love dogs...big dogs. Rotties, dobies, malamutes, Danes, mastiff, all of em. I'm the guy at the pet store that will rub the head of a 120lb pittie running up the aisles with the head of a bowling ball and get slobbered on.

Friend of mine had a massive German Shephard that lived in the country. Huge paws. Built like a wolf hound and called him Sasquatch. Dog had some trouble understanding guard dog 101. He was friendly to strangers but....wouldn't let them leave. My friend was always coming home and finding a fed ex or UPS driver trapped on the porch.

One breed I'm just not comfortable with. Akitas. They all seem an inch away from dominating their owners, always on edge and are unpredictable. Their body language is tough to read. If you have one I hope you get them more than I do.

I breed and train working line German shepherd dogs. I compete with them in the sport of Schutzhund which is a breed test. I am the training director for my region and club and also run a pet training business on the side.

Hi fellow Iowan! I would love to get your information! We already know that our next dog will be a German Shephard. Maybe you'd be willing to steer us in the right direction :)

My Anatolian was just diagnosed with Addison's disease at 2.5 years old. Not sure how I'm going to come up with the extra $250+ a month for treatment but will figure it out, may have to bow out of this hobby. He's very weak and won't eat but his first treatment was yesterday so hopefully he improves.

Well Moose is still a big baby. Actually think its getting worse. The wife gave him a pillow few months ago and he carries it around laying on it now. Still has toy box he empties daily. Still greets me at door with stuffed animal everyday.
Super needy and spoiled now. They taught him how to speak so he sits in front of me every night barking in my face until he gets a treat.
Kind of out of hand at this point. :D
Hes super smart and well behaved though.
