I need a Tridacna Gigas in my life but it appears it's impossible to get them here in the UK and you get all the good stuff. So I'm looking at all options before I give up!
So a possible option would be buying one to a US address, that's where someone else comes in and then that person forwards it to me in the UK. I'd have to get CITES permits and all that stuff I think. But I need someone trustworthy who knows what they're doing as obviously it wouldn't be packaged for international I wouldn't have thought, so would need repacking I'd imagine. I know it's a long shot.
Feel free to offer some other suggestions.

I have a nephew (in-law) who is a dual citizen who could carry a clam next time they go home to visit Grandma. A live clam bagged and flown in checked luggage isn't going to get intercepted as a gift from one reefer to the next isn't an international trade in endangered species issue. The traveler declares it as a gift, or not, and it should not set off alarms as a potential pest.

Unfortunately, my nephew probably isn't interested in carrying a clam due to his religious beliefs, but I think you can figure out something if you find someone who is coming to the States for work or a vacation, or some happy situation?

You might have to work with a US vendor to ship a gigas to a hotel, and perhaps someone reading might be flying your direction? This can be done.

"Trustworthy?" Hobbyists can be very much so and a few might even be willing to help another reefer out? GL

I appreciate the suggestion, it's definitely an option. It'd just need to be packaged correctly to have any chance of surviving I'd have thought. Hopefully someone has a solution.

I do have a brother in Law in the US, New Hampshire. He could potentially forward on to me. I'm speaking to ORA, I might ask if they could make an exception and sell me one directly. They could then package it as they would for an international delivery and then my brother law could forward to me. Possible option
