I have a new nano cube and I just bought a gsp and a Kenya tree for it as I like how they spread fast. The gsp is fully open and and looks healthy but the Kenya tree looks sad and isn’t really opening fully, kinda looks shriveled. I’m not sure if the calcium would do this or not but since the gsp is doing good I would think the Kenya tree would be fine too?

Ph: 8.2
Salinity 1.027
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Ammonia: 0
Phosphate: 0
Kh: 9
Calcium: 340 (yes I know I need to raise it I’m working on it)

Your aquarium looks very new and your nutrients are low. Kenya trees can do well in nearly any reef tank, how many fish do you have? How long have the corals been in your tank?

It's definitely good practice to keep your parameters in check but soft coral isn't too picky over calcium and alkalinity so I wouldn't think it's that. It might not like the place you have it if there's too much or too little light, or it's more likely just adjusting to the condition of your reef tank

Indeed a new tank....air still trapped in sandbed....
Leave it alone and it will be fine....just a little ticked off. They will also do this when they grow....

I have 2 clown fish and I’ve had the coral for 2 days now. I had a Kenya tree in my bigger tank and it opened right away which is why I thought it was weird.

It is at the bottom of the tank so it gets a little less but it’s not a big tank so I didn’t think that would be an issue it’s also in a place with low flow if that’s also a problem.

I’ve had great results keeping Kenya’s in higher flow and they seem to thrive and perk up. I think they prefer that.
Also a possibility is the 0 nitrates and phosphates. They like some nutrients in the tank, but I think that flow is probably the bigger deal.

If it's only been a couple days I wouldn't worry too much. Kenya trees are very hardy, I have joked that I could pour table salt in the toilet and grow Kenya trees If it doesn't perk up in the next 4-5 days maybe try moving it into a higher flow area and feed the tank a little more to get the nutrients up. Also like FUNGI said, they will shrivel up when they're growing
