I'd love to see if there are open source/free programs out there that do this. Handy way to get the depth of field you want with just a few pictures (assuming you use a small enough aperture).

I could use larger F-stops and get more DOF without stacking, but there is a problem with refraction with higher f=stops.

You keep those in check with with the larger aperture.

So basically you take different shots with a different focus point then put them all together. Yes I am slow ;)

i downloaded the 30 day trial....im not entirely sure which version it is...its the MAC version...i only had one option.

However, for what we are doing with it, the LITE version is all you need.

So, $150 for lifetime upgrades and updates, not too bad.

More than I want to spend, but the results I think are well worth cost.

Here is a few with my new Nikon 105mm. A bit of learning curve, as it focuses in the opposite direction...Should be used to it in a few days.

Sort of makes me want to throw my camera out in a snow bank.

To my less discerning eyes, I can't seen anything on those pics that is out of focus.

:xd:well when youve spent as much time and money on your camera as you have your tank, i hope they are in focus!

seriously though, thanks Jim. I look forward to coming to see you and your tank. Obviously, i will be bringing all the camera gear. I will be nice shooting something other than a frag tank.

Ahh...I would've never guessed that. More I look at it, more I think it should be in some biology textbook. :D
