I made a needle wheel for a Jebao DCP-3500 pump and it works fantastic. I took the standard impeller and cut the vanes off of the baseplate, drilled 1/8” holes in it and superglued styrene pegs into them. The venturi is the one that came with my skimmer and fit the volute with just a few wraps of Teflon tape. There was zero other modifications made it fit and lined up with the existing holes exactly. It’s quiet too!

When ran at 60% it is using 19 watts and makes very fine foam. If I turn it up to 100% it will set an error code, I believe it thinks it’s running dry. I’ll have to play with it for a bit and figure out a solution.

I’ll get some photos of what I made when I disassemble for cleaning soon.

Its in an Aqua Excell skimmer, I don’t know the model number but it works well.

A&C use Jebao pumps for their skimmers, with a custom 3D printed needle wheel.

As an owner of one of these, they work pretty darn good.
In fact, it is so good that some reefers switched to use it in place of their precious Royal Exclusive Bubble King.
So yeah, they are more than capable to run as a Venturi for a skimmer.

He shows their needle wheel design in the video below if you're curious:
