Good afternoon reefers. I have a small patch on this stuff growing on my rocks and I want to take care of it before it spreads like wild fire. I have been picking it off the rock with my hands, but I imagine they are rooted into the rock. I've been told it's not hair algae, so I am just trying to figure out what kind of algae it is and the best way to get rid of it? I was thinking of just placing something over it and block the lights from getting to it and hope it dies off.

Hey there a little algae is nothing to be too worried about. Keep your phosphate and Nitrate under control and keep your whites at a low photo period. Depending on tank size look at maybe additional cuc or utility fish.
