just got my white-tail bristle tooth ! it said online that it was pre-quarantined, so I assumed it would only need observation qt. but i’m seeing white flecks in the shipping bag as i’m acclimating to temp ?
there are no white dots or lesions at all on the fish and it’s already regained a lot of its colour !
so i’m just wondering is this possibly inch (or worse, velvet) in the bag ? or is it possible that it’s just substrate ?
(sorry for the blues in the pics, but the flakes are just white and seem almost powder-y.

Dont go by shipping bag as there will be fragments from food and possible feces. I suggest even though quarantined, assume it has something and do a 14 day quarantine on your own in lieu of observation in the event the fish has anything, youve then allowed the disease to gain hold of the given fish
Once released, please post pics of the fish under white light intensity
Its near impossible to assess a fish in a bag

I will go ahead with the 14 day qt! should I go ahead with copper treatment or wait it out until or if I see spots on the actual fish ?

Coppersafe starts to take effect at 2.0. Even go to 2.15 or in that area as a precaution and add aeration. It will also be your opportunity to get the fish to eat without food being stolen from another occupant

I have copper power, and should I slowly ramp it up to 2.15 or just dose it to that ppm right away ?

If you have an accurate test kit / Hanna meter, just dose half the calculated dose, let it mix for a couple of hours, test and then add the second dose based on that reading. The next day, test the tank again to confirm the proper dose. Then, leave the fish in 2.25 copper for 30 days.

There is no way to tell with the bubbles as others have said - I would recommend you start a normal quarantine protocol. I assume you're asking since your seller said the fish was quarantined. Most of the time - depending on the vendor I would suggest repeating that procedure. Is there a reason you're taking the picture in the bag, as compared to in a tank? I'm guessing you do not have a QT tank?
