Not sure what's the cause.
It's a new tank. About 5 months. All params are tested weekly and in order now,

however I regret using nopox at 1ml a day in the 90gallon. I think it was the cause for an algae/ dino outbreak since I had 0 nitrate and low po4 at the time. The rocks had a mat of dark brown algae like material in the photosynthetic areas. I cleaned most if it off but refer to the pics to see some of how it looked. Now my nitrates are 5 and po4 .04.

Also on the dead sps bird's-nest if I zoom in i can see little worm like things moving around , looks like dino, but not sure if it's normal since it's already dead (clean up or cause)? The healthier sps in the pics have a brown fuzz on tips or base.

Could be but hard to tell from the pics. Some look like dinos but others don’t.

Only way to tell for sure is by putting it under a microscope. That will not only ID them as dinos but also what kind so you can treat properly.

When I had a small dino outbreak my Birdsnest was by far the worst affected. Thought it was all but a goner but it survived and has recovered after several months.

Do they go away at night but come back after light comes on?

Its soft tissue Nicrosis (STN)
Something has changes whether it be flow, lighting or Some as listed below
Some possible triggers of infection are:
- Alkalinity spike
- Temperature spike
- Salinity spike
- Low dissolved oxygen
- Poor water quality related with phosphate levels up to 5 ppm
- Change in water flow
- Additions of sand
- Changes in brand of salt
- Bad test kits giving faulty results
- Levels of minor elements such as Iodine, Potassium, Strontium
- Light intensity
- - Changes in water flow
- Addition of new corals
- - Pesticides
- Airborne Contaminants or sprays

Changes in water flow... Hmm, could explain why the side facing gyre is STN, and the other side looks brand new and nice.
Here I am thinking they can handle any flow. Ill reduce it for now, it was probably low in tank it's coming from

Just for reference today's tests 7.5 alk, 420c, 1400mg 5no3, .04po4, 1.026, 8.4 pH 78 degrees

Actually one if my fish had a little fin rot which is bacterial and us currently being treated with kana/focus. Chance that it could be too much bacteria in the water affecting sps too? [HASH=69936]#newtankproblems[/HASH]

unfortunately that isn't necessarily a diagnosis of dinos.
Amphedinium will disappear into the water column at night but prorocentrum have no issue being present 24 hours a day and the fix isn't the same across the board which is why ID'ing them is important.
