Hey Guys,

I bought this tank with live rock In it and set it up at home about a month ago. According to the seller, the rocks had corals on it before but then died.

I'm noticing these little things growing on it. I was just wondering if it's coral that's growing back from the dead. What is it?

Coral doesn't grow back from the dead, but it can survive from tiny bits of living flesh, especially soft corals.
Looks like Palys and maybe a mushroom? The latter might be a sponge. Same kind of thing happens when you add live rock to your tank, generally these are "good" but many soft corals can grow rapidly and crowd out space quickly.

Is it possible that these can also be Zoas?

They look like Zoas or palys most likely. The last picture might be a mushroom. Hard to tell with them closed up though.

Here's some updated photos of how it looks now. Not sure if this will be able to clarify whether they are Zoas or Palys and the other one that looks like a mushroom.

Also what's that white spot on the live rock? I can see the spots like this all over the live rock in the tank

The white cotton like stuff (3rd photo) is probably some sort of sponges
I have some like that in my tank too (also filling in a crevice like that)
